Guidelines for Handling Statistical Data
We may provide data that has undergone statistical processing to third parties (including academic research institutions and public organizations) to offer value to our users and solve problems faced by users and society. When providing this data, we do so using appropriate methods tailored to the nature of the data and the manner of provision. This includes confirming in advance that the recipient can handle the data properly and restricting the recipient's use of the data through contracts or other agreements.
Definition of Statistical Data
Statistical data refers to information that has been aggregated and analyzed in a way that prevents the identification of specific individuals or corporations. For example, it presents trends or distributions among users as numerical values and does not include personally identifying information like names or addresses.
Our group has established guidelines for the creation and handling of such statistical data, prioritizing the protection of our users' privacy in its operation.
Recipients of Statistical Data
Provision to Academic Research and Public Institutions
We may provide statistical data to public institutions conducting analyses for the public good or to organizations engaged in academic research. This may be done, for example, to support the creation of white papers or statistical reports by public agencies, or for the purpose of joint or academic research.
For example, we are implementing the following initiatives:
・Published a research paper on the impact of the Special Cash Payments on household consumption.
・Announcement Regarding Research Cooperation with the Bank of Japan
・Entrusted with a portion of the Cabinet Office's FY2024 "Economic Trend Analysis Utilizing Big Data (Financial Data etc. Utilization Targeting Businesses)" project.
Provision to Ad Delivery Businesses
To deliver more relevant advertisements to our users, we may provide statistical data to ad delivery businesses.
