Money Forward Launches AI Agent “Consolidated Financial Statements Review Agent” for “Money Forward Cloud Consolidated Accounting”

AI generates reports covering multiple review points, reducing oversight risks in financial consolidation and strengthening governance

Money Forward, Inc. has launched the AI agent “Consolidated Financial Statements Review Agent” in “Money Forward Cloud Consolidated Accounting.” AI analyzes consolidated financial data from multiple perspectives to support identifying anomalies and consistency risks that require verification. This enables efficient identification of items to review even within tight closing schedules, supporting significant efficiency improvements in review tasks and strengthened governance.

“Consolidated Financial Statements Review Agent” is an AI agent that automates basic verification processes — such as the agreement of debits and credits and theoretical value consistency — for balance sheets and income statements in consolidation packages and consolidation worksheets. AI replaces verification tasks previously performed manually or visually by accounting personnel, compiling automated check results into a report. This allows accounting personnel to immediately identify what needs to be checked.

Going forward, based on usage patterns and user feedback, we will sequentially implement advanced features, including expanding support for segment-level income statements and cash flow statements, customizable check rules, and anomaly detection through statistical and time-series analysis.

■ Key Features of “Consolidated Financial Statements Review Agent”
・Automated review and reporting from multiple perspectives
Based on practical accounting review criteria, it automatically performs balance agreement checks, consistency check and detects potential anomalies through prior-period and year-over-year comparisons. Automated check results are listed as a report, allowing intuitive identification of key areas that require review and correction.

・Support for identifying and prioritizing items for review
Check results are categorized by severity levels such as “Review Required,” “Caution,” and “No Issues,” with total counts viewable on the summary screen. This enables accounting personnel to efficiently identify and prioritize items requiring verification. Additionally, when anomalies are detected, “AI Suggestions” display the relevant account items and estimated causes.

・Eliminating reliance on specific individuals and strengthening governance
Automating part of the verification process with AI enables early risk detection from multiple perspectives and comprehensive checks, even within tight closing schedules. Furthermore, establishing a robust review structure that does not rely on individual staff experience or knowledge prevents reliance on specific individuals in financial consolidation tasks and contributes to strengthening governance to ensure corporate credibility.

■ Background
In financial consolidation operations at listed companies and companies preparing for listing, certain verification tasks — such as the agreement of debits and credits and consistency between consolidated capital and standalone figures — have been standardized using spreadsheets and other tools. On the other hand, concerns and risks remain, such as unexpected oversights in new transactions and omissions in routine check items.

Furthermore, amid tight deadlines for audit response and timely disclosure, accounting personnel face time constraints and psychological pressure from being unable to allocate sufficient time for comprehensive checks despite wanting to conduct more thorough reviews.

To address these challenges, we have launched the “Consolidated Financial Statements Review Agent.” Through multifaceted automated review by AI, it reduces oversight risks and drives further operational efficiency in financial closing operations.
