Personal Information Protection Policy (Privacy Policy)

In keeping with the mission of “Money Forward. Move your life forward,” Money Forward, Inc., (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”) alleviates individuals’ worries and anxieties about money through its services, and thus helps individuals improve their well-being and realize their dreams. The Company’s ultimate goal is to change the flow of money in Japan, revitalize the society as a whole, and contribute to cultivating an environment where individuals can readily take on new challenges.
To achieve this goal, the Company believes it is important to handle customers’ valuable personal information in an appropriate and secure manner, now and into the future. Thus, the Company has stipulated this Personal Information Protection Policy as an action guideline for all employees to comply with, and commits to its thorough compliance.

  1. 1.For personal information handled in all of the Company’s businesses, the Company shall comply with laws and ordinances, government-stipulated guidelines, and other standards applicable to the handling of personal information. To do so, the Company shall develop and adequately maintain and operate a Personal Information Protection Management System which complies with the Japan Industrial Standard “Personal Information Protection Management Systems‐Requirements” (JIS Q 15001:2006).
  2. 2.When obtaining personal information, the Company shall clarify the purpose of use in advance to the fullest extent possible, and obtain such information through appropriate means. In addition, the Company shall use obtained personal information solely within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use, and shall take appropriate measures to restrict use for any other purposes. The Company shall not provide obtained personal information to third parties without the consent of the individual concerned.
  3. 3.In cases where all or a portion of the handling of obtained personal information is to be outsourced to a third party, the Company shall adequately select the contractor, and take necessary measures such as concluding necessary agreements to ensure that the contractor complies with safety management measures.
  4. 4.The Company shall take rational safety precautions and corrective measures against risks such as unauthorized access to, or loss, destruction, falsification, leakage or damage of personal information.
  5. 5.The Company shall adequately respond to inquiries and complaints about personal information through the point of contact specified below.
  6. 6.The Company shall promptly respond to requests including those for notification, disclosure, correction or deletion of the purpose of using personal information, or the suspension of use of personal information.
  7. 7.The Company shall review and enhance the Personal Information Protection Management System on a continuing basis.

The Company shall use obtained personal information for the following purposes:
  1. (1)Personal information obtained when customers use the Company’s services (Money Forward, MF Cloud and other online services)
    • ・To operate and manage the services that the Company provides
    • ・To provide information about the Company’s services, support customers, or respond to customers’ actions including inquiries, complaints, disputes and lawsuits
    • ・To provide information about the Company or partner companies including those of products, services, events and seminars through postal mail, telephone, fax, email or other means.
    • ・To notify customers about matters such as changes to terms and policies related to the Company’s services
    • ・To organize and manage campaigns or other activities
    • ・To perform tasks related to the above, communicate with customers, undertake processes, or respond to inquiries
    • ・To conduct data analysis necessary to improve the Company’s existing services or develop new ones.
    • ・To improve the quality of handling phone calls and to accurately understand inquiries or other communications with customers
    • ・To create, use, disclose or provide statistical data related to the Company’s services to the extent in which individuals cannot be identified
    • ・To process data so that individuals cannot be identified, and improve and enhance the Company’s services, or create, use or provide marketing materials

(2)Personal information obtained through application forms for attendance to or at the time of events, seminars or other programs (including questionnaire answers), information about participants of events or seminars hosted by other companies, and personal information written in questionnaires

  4. (4)Personal information of business partners
    • ・To select business partners, provide marketing/sales information, undertake processes for concluding agreements, manage transactions, and conduct tasks related to the above
    • ・To provide information about the Company or partner companies including those of products, services and events through postal mail, telephone, fax, email or other means.
  5. (5)Personal information disclosed in various public registers; personal information disclosed on the Web or other online media; personal information disclosed in books, newspapers, magazines or other print media; and personal information retained by database operators

    • ・To manage shareholders based on the Companies Act and various other laws and ordinances, implement various shareholder-related initiatives, and contact shareholders
[Cases where personal information will be provided to a third party]
(1) In cases where the Company provides its services to customers of partner financial institutions or business corporations, and provides information obtained through its services (limited to information associated to customers of such partners) to such partners through electronic transmission or other means for the purpose of improving or enhancing the services or other attributes of such partners, or for other purposes stipulated by such partners
(2) In cases where the Company provides application information (e.g., name, company name or contact information) obtained through the Web or other media, or questionnaire information (e.g., name, company name, contact information or information written in questionnaires) obtained at a venue or through the Web or other media, to co-hosting or sponsor companies of seminars or events through postal mail, delivery by hand, electronic transmission or other means, for such companies to ascertain the needs or other information of participants, provide appropriate information, contact participants, or for other purposes.
To suspend the provision of information to co-hosting or sponsor companies, please contact the Company.
(3) In cases where the Company provides receipt information or other information through electronic transmission or other means to a company that provides services for converting receipt information or other information into text format, for the purpose of improving precision of relevant analyses or to utilize such information as statistical data
The Company shall not provide information to third parties in cases other than the above; provided, however, that the individual concerned consents or that provision of information is stipulated in laws or ordinances.
[Outsourcing]
The Company may outsource all or a portion of the handling of personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use.
[Voluntariness of providing personal information]
While provision of personal information is voluntary, the Company may not adequately be able to serve the individual in cases where necessary personal information is not provided.
[Obtaining personal information through means in which identifying the individual is difficult]
The Company or third parties may use technology such as cookies or Web beacons for the purpose of improving the website’s usability, obtaining statistical information such as access statuses, or measuring advertising effects. The Company also collects IP addresses to manage the Site. In both cases, the Company shall only use such information for the purpose of appropriately and securely managing and operating services on the Site, and shall not obtain personal information that customers have not entered themselves.
[Process for responding to requests including those for disclosure]
With regards to personal information subject to disclosure, the Company shall respond to requests within the scope deemed to be rational in cases where the individual concerned or a representative of that individual makes requests including those for notification, disclosure or revision of the purpose of using personal information (i.e., revision, addition or deletion of contents), for suspension of use of or other action against the personal information (i.e., suspension of use or elimination), or suspension of provision of personal information to third parties. Please use the form designated by the Company (disclosure request form) when making a disclosure request. Please contact the point of contact below to request the form to be sent.
For identification purposes, please attach a copy of proof of identity (either of a driver’s license—crossing out the domicile of origin—health insurance card, pension handbook or passport) to the disclosure request form.
In cases where a representative makes the request, please attach the document below indicating that the individual concerned has consented to being represented by the representative, and a copy of the representative’s proof of identify (same as above).
For legal representatives: 1) transcript of family register, 2) certificate of registered matters for adult guardianship, or 3) other document that indicates the right of legal representation
For voluntary representatives: 1)letter of proxy (please attach a certificate of seal impression of the individual subject to personal information disclosure)
After the Company receives the disclosure request form and proof of identify documents, the Company shall notify in written form about the personal information for which the request for disclosure was made. The service fee for personal information disclosure requests or a request for notification of the purpose of using personal information is JPY1,000. Please transfer the amount to the Company’s designated bank account.
