Money Forward, Inc. is launching the AI Agent “Expense Application Support Agent” for select users for its “Money Forward Cloud Expense” platform. This agent streamlines expense reimbursement for both applicants and approvers. It minimizes application errors and rejections, significantly reducing the workload for verifying applications.

The Expense Application Support Agent automatically extracts data from uploaded receipt images using AI-OCR. Generative AI then compares this information with internal expense rules to suggest appropriate expense items and prompts users to fill in missing fields. The system verifies compliance with internal policies automatically. It displays alerts with specific rationales and suggests corrections if the submission violates any rules. This enables applicants to submit accurate reports without hesitating over expense items. Approvers also benefit from a faster, more appropriate process by simply reviewing the automated check results.

Many employees submit expense reimbursement applications only once or twice a month. This infrequency often leads to errors—such as incorrect items or missing information—due to a limited understanding of internal policies. These deficiencies result in tedious rejections and resubmissions, creating a significant time and mental burden for employees. Approvers also face a heavy workload because they must manually verify each application against internal policies. Furthermore, irregular cases not explicitly defined in the rules often lead to inconsistent approvals that vary by approver, making standardization difficult.

The agent solves these challenges by leveraging AI to suggest appropriate expense items and automatically check application details based on internal policies. Further expansion of its functions is planned, featuring interactive inquiries via a chat UI.
